For parents and carers
Clear information and practical guidance to help young people use digital technologies in ways that support learning and emotional well-being.
What parents and carers can gain
THRIVE provides parents and carers with:
- trustworthy evidence that looks beyond screen time and considers how, why and in what contexts technology affects learning and emotional well-being;
- Access to E-well Connect+ for a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges young people experience when using digital technologies and AI;
- resources supporting cooperation between families and schools,
- the knowledge that their child’s experience contributes to better tools, guidance and educational support for young people across Europe.
What participation can offer your child
By participating in the THRIVE survey and related reflection activities, where applicable, young people can:
- reflect on how they use digital technologies for learning and in everyday life;
- share their experiences, needs and concerns in a safe and structured way;
- have their perspectives represented in research and educational decision-making; and
- contribute to better tools, guidance and support for young people and schools across Europe.
Participation may encourage useful reflection, but it does not guarantee a direct or immediate personal benefit.
Safe and informed participation
Participation in THRIVE research is voluntary and follows established ethical, safeguarding and data-protection requirements. Young people and their parents or legal guardians receive clear information about what participation involves, its potential benefits and risks, consent and assent arrangements, privacy and whom to contact with questions.
The survey does not provide an individual assessment, diagnosis or personalised advice. Parents and carers do not receive access to their child’s confidential responses.
Stay informed and involved
Parents and carers receive THRIVE information through participating schools, project partners and their national networks, social media channels and the THRIVE e-newsletter. Findings and validated resources are shared through the THRIVE website, participating schools and project communication channels. They can also contribute to the development of project guidance through relevant surveys, co-design activities and feedback opportunities.
